Weekend like a local in Stellenbosch, South Africa

Stellenbosch, located 50 km outside of Cape Town, is home to over 140 wine farms and the popular Stellenbosch Wine Route.  The 2nd oldest town in South Africa, Stellenbosch is alive with exciting wine pairings and award winning restaurants, in addition to expansive nature reserves and outdoor markets. I have been a resident of Stellenbosch for over two years and daily life in Stellenbosch is laid-back, outdoorsy and fun.  Here is my pick of a few activities, restaurants and markets that are popular with visitors and locals. To see what other locals say about Stellenbosch, check out #visitstellenbosch. Saturday:  Run, pastry, market and craft beer 8 am – Run 5 km through a vine yard Start the day by joining hundreds of weekly runners, walkers and dogs that participate in the Root 44 parkrun.  Held every Saturday at 8am, it is free to participate, however you are requested to register if you are not already signed up with parkrun.  The course is fairly flat and can be run entirely at your own pace.
